Corporate Glossaries:
What are corporate glossaries?
Babylon's glossaries are data files based on a snapshot of data in your organization's information sources, such as ERP and MRP systems. Glossaries contain both definitions (including free text, images and hyperlinks) in DHTML scheme, and the indexes (source terms and their alternate forms) used to search for the information
How do I create corporate glossaries?
Glossaries are easily created using tools supplied with Babylon-Enterprise. The extraction tool takes content from corporate data sources, such as SQL databases, ODBC data sources, XML files, LDAP/Active directories, or Microsoft Office files (Excel, Access), and creates snapshots of the information. Customized programs can also be created to extract information from sources not supported by the Babylon extractor. The builder tool converts the extracted text (.GLS) files into the binary format (.BGL) glossary files.

The customer has full control over the extraction process. In addition, Babylon offers the experience of our own Professional Services team to help customers produce corporate glossaries.
Can a glossary reside on the server?
Glossaries can reside centrally on the Babylon-Enterprise application server and be accessed by users through the network.
How do I distribute corporate glossaries to the client desktops in my organization?
Corporate glossaries are distributed to clients by the Babylon-Enterprise application server. The server validates the user's authentication credentials and provides updates only for glossaries the user is permitted to view.
What if I don't want all users in the organization to have access to a certain glossary? How can I restrict access to specific glossaries?
In the NTFS security properties, enable read-access to the glossary data file to specific users or groups.
Are security permissions dedicated to the user or the computer? Can a user access restricted glossaries from different computers?
Babylon-Enterprise's security scheme is based on the user credentials used to log on to the corporate network. Users can log on to any computer while maintaining their personal Babylon access profile.
